This game will be played in Ardfert at the earlier than usual time of 6pm. LA NA gCLUB: Last Sunday May 10th the club marked 125 years of the GAA with events in the local sportsfield. Thanks to all the children who played hurling, football, rounders and danced. Josephine O'Riordan helped us all bring back memories of the past with her fantastic selection of photographs which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Joe Wallace also put in a lot of work for the event. Liam Lovell launched a special plaque to mark the occasion, Andrew Doyle provided the sound system and the O'Riordan family Ballinprior played some tunes.
BRENDAN'S HURLING CLUB: 125 CELEBRATIONS: Last Sunday was dedicated La na gClub/Club Day to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the foundation of the G.A.A. And lots of events took place in Ardfert Sportsfield to commemorate the day.
Liam Lovell gave a special blessing to all who attended and unveiled an engraved limestone plaque, the 125 flag was raised and there were mini games in hurling and football for all juvenile players, rounders & camogie exhibition, Scor na bPaisti set dancers, display of hurling yearbooks and visitors book signing. The O'Riordan's from Ballinprior, Melissa, Danielle and Darren and their father Donal provided the musical entertainment for the event, which was greatly appreciated. The President of St. Brendan's Hurling Club John Stack, Banna Cross, blew out the candles on a special 125 cake, and the honour of slicing the cake went to the one and only Andrew Doyle, who provided the excellent sound system for the event. Sincere thanks to Coleen Shields who spent the time serving tea and coffee, to Katie O'Riordan, Katie Healy and Orlaith Hussey who provided a small shop.
